Cameron’s Brewing Ambear Red Ale

Cameron’s Brewing Ambear Red Ale

This is just a solid red ale, which I get a craving for now and again. In a ecosystem dominated by IPAs, there simply aren’t a lot of readily accessible options for an honest, straight ahead West Coast style red ale. There are a number of “red” beers out there but they can range from American style lagers to Irish style to West Coast style to (probably) countless others. Powerhouse makes an Irish style but it’s not available all the time. Anderson’s makes one but I would need to make a special trip there to get some and I’m not sure it’s constant in the rotation either. Cameron’s is currently available on the shelf at my local LCBO.

I’m not going to make Cameron’s Brewing blush with these descriptors but honestly, sometimes you just need to not fuck something up and they absolutely didn’t (fuck it up that is). It’s flavourful yet easy drinking, malty yet thirst quenching. I wouldn’t call it “crushable” (as the cool kids say) but you can definitely drink more than one in a row and I can’t say that about a great many craft beers out there.
