{"id":248,"date":"2026-04-05T12:39:15","date_gmt":"2026-04-05T16:39:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thehicksons.ca\/?p=248"},"modified":"2026-04-05T12:39:15","modified_gmt":"2026-04-05T16:39:15","slug":"scalloped-potatoes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.thehicksons.ca\/?p=248","title":{"rendered":"Scalloped Potatoes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Ingredients:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1\/4 cup chopped onion<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\/4 cup butter or margarine<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\/4 cup all-purpose flour<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 1\/2 cups milk<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>5 large potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced (5 cups)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Instructions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To make sauce, cook onion in butter or margarine till tender but not brown.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stir in flour, 1\u00bd teaspoons salt, and \u215b teaspoon pepper.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add milk. Cook and stir till thickened and bubbly. Cook and stir 1 to 2 minutes more. Remove from heat.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Place half of the sliced potatoes in a greased 2-quart casserole. Cover with half of the sauce. Repeat layers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bake, covered, in a 350\u00b0 oven 45 minutes, stirring once.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Uncover; bake about 30 minutes more or till potatoes are done.
