{"id":245,"date":"2026-02-28T10:09:22","date_gmt":"2026-02-28T15:09:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thehicksons.ca\/?p=245"},"modified":"2026-02-28T10:09:22","modified_gmt":"2026-02-28T15:09:22","slug":"lasagna","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.thehicksons.ca\/?p=245","title":{"rendered":"Lasagna"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Ingredients:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1 pound bulk pork sausage or ground beef<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd cup chopped onion<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 clove garlic, minced<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 16-ounce can tomatoes, cut up<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 8-ounce can tomato sauce<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 6-ounce can tomato paste<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 teaspoons dried basil, crushed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 teaspoon salt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>8 ounces lasagna noodles tablespoon cooking oil<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 eggs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2\u00bd cups ricotta or cream-style cottage cheese<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Instructions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cook meat, onion, and garlic till meat is browned. Drain off fat.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stir in the undrained tomatoes and next 4 ingredients. Cover; simmer 15 minutes, stirring often.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meanwhile, cook noodles till tender in boiling salted water with cooking oil added to water. Drain; rinse noodles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Beat eggs; add ricotta, \u00bd cup of the Parmesan or Romano, the parsley, 1 teaspoon salt, and \u00bd teaspoon pepper.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Layer half of the noodles in a 13x9x2-inch baking dish; spread with half of the ricotta filling. Add half of the mozzarella cheese and half of the meat sauce.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Repeat layers. Sprinkle remaining Parmesan atop.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bake in a 375\u00b0 oven for 30 to 35 minutes or till heated through. (Or, assemble early and refrigerate; bake 45 minutes or till hot.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Let stand 10 minutes.
